Jonna Reeder

Jonna Reeder fills our new part-time Worship Ministries Coordinator position. She will focus on coordinating our myriad musicians and singers, and providing needed upfront leadership for our congregation. Jonna comes to the role with experience leading worship in contemplative, contemporary, and traditional styles, and she holds a bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from Southern Oregon University where she focused on piano with additional vocal, composition, and organ studies. In addition, she is passionately committed to cross-cultural and interfaith work, and she has just completed a Doctorate of Intercultural Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary.

Jonna shares, “I’m excited to see how God will work to bring together positive combinations of the gifted musicians who are part of Calvin. And the goal is not simply very good music, but worship that invites us into God’s presence and transforms us.” She adds, “Aspects of the best of worship for me occur before the actual service: prayerfully listening to the Spirit to select music and rehearsing with other musicians. During a service there are times when music opens a sacred space for thanksgiving, lament, prayer, and praise so that the Spirit flows among us and we are more open to the Incarnate Word.”
