Equipping Women, Empowering Change, and Overcoming Poverty
For several years Calvin has supported Path From Poverty (formerly known as Women’s Enterprises International).
In Kenya, Path From Poverty works with women to enable them to improve their own lives. The women’s first priority was to gain a source of clean water at home through rainwater catchment tanks. Since 2000, in partnership with Kenyan women, nearly 400 tanks have been installed, giving access to clean water to over 8,000 people.
The women’s next focus is on solar panels for their homes to add electricity.
In Indonesia, PFP supports women raising health pigs through education, training, vaccinations for piglets, and secure pig pens. They also have started a Family Health Fund, with members giving a piglet in order to receive financial help when anyone in the family is ill.
