Director of Music Ministries

Director of Music Ministries (Half-Time)

Calvin Church is seeking a spiritually-gifted and musically-talented worship leader to join us in Forming Community, Transforming Lives, and Reforming Our World. The Director of Music Ministries will give musical leadership to our congregation as we worship the Triune God through our hybrid worship services (in-person and live-streamed), oversee and manage the church’s musical groups, and provide faithful and accessible worship experiences for all members.

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as the “lead worshiper” of the congregation, providing easy-to-follow upfront vocal and musical leadership with piano and/or guitar.
  • Assist in planning services with the pastor(s), including the selection of music to be both sung congregationally and presented to the congregation.
  • Lead or provide for the leadership of our musicians and musical groups in rehearsals, sound checks, and worship services.
  • Offer a consistent variety of musical styles, including both modern and traditional hymns as well as contemporary songs, with attention to theology, intergenerational audience, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Work with our tech team volunteers to ensure high quality sound and video as well as textual consistency for both online and in-house worshipers.

Who You Are:

  • A Worshiper of God. You have a living faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and your own rich personal life of worship of the Trinity.
  • A Music Aficionado. You love music of myriad styles and genres, have an impressive collection of playlists, and are regularly listening to and learning new songs.
  • A Talented Musician. You’ve got chops! (It’s okay to admit it humbly.) You have well-honed skills on piano and/or guitar; you have a voice others can follow; and you can direct both a band and vocal ensembles.
  • A Spiritually-Gifted Leader. You have been graced by God’s Spirit to be comfortable upfront in worship services, out in front shepherding others, both intuitive and in tune with a congregation and the Holy Spirit.
  • A Team Builder. You can effectively recruit and support teams of volunteers, encourage positive team behavior and direct it toward relational health, and empower others to complete tasks.

Calvin Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) is 200-member congregation serving the city of Shoreline and the greater Seattle Area. We currently hold a weekly in-person and live-streamed Sunday service, and a monthly Messy Church service. Our musical groups can include a small choir, worship band, string ensemble, and bell choir.

If you have a living faith in Jesus Christ and gifts in worship leadership and musical direction, we would love to hear from you.
